One journey / Different chapters

The story continues.

Built through showing up.

I’m Mark. What started as a decision to change my health has become a continuing journey through training, running and discovering what I can do.

How I got here.

In July 2023, at around 110kg, I decided something had to change. With the help of my friend, Ken, what started with changing how I ate soon took me somewhere I had never imagined: the gym. That September, Matty became my first personal trainer, helping me find my feet and build confidence. A year later, we ran every step of the 2024 Great North Run together, finishing in 2:22:26. By then, I had lost nearly 40kg and discovered ambitions that went far beyond losing weight. In July 2025, I began training with Carol West, starting the next stage of my training and nutrition. Today, reDFND brings those chapters together: the running, the strength, the milestones and the story behind my upcoming book Can't Is Won't. I'm still finding out what I can do.

reDFND brings those chapters together: the road to the Great North Run, the mk2 years, and the work taking shape as Mark V3.

The next start line.

Great North Run 2027 is back in the plan. The story continues - with everything learned along the way.
